End the Travel Ban on North Korea Now!
Dear Friend,
Last week, the Trump administration renewed the travel ban to North Korea. Prior to Trump’s 2017 travel ban, thousands of U.S. nationals – including many Korean Americans – traveled annually to North Korea, playing an important role in citizen diplomacy. Starting in the early 1990s, U.S. humanitarian organizations also sent hundreds of aid workers to North Korea every year.
Nine years later, this travel ban has denied thousands of families opportunities to reunite with their loved ones, especially many elderly family members who are nearing the end of their lives. This draconian ban has also denied us opportunities for important people-to-people exchanges that would include discussing climate policies and disability rights — topics which North Korea has previously engaged with international bodies. Moreover, this renewal will continue to block essential humanitarian aid and people-to-people engagement.

This year marks 73 years since the United States and North Korea signed the Korean Armistice Agreement, which temporarily halted but did not formally end the Korean War. This unresolved war has kept families separated and is the root cause of tensions on the peninsula. Rally with us at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and join our call to end the Korean War! This rally is co-hosted by the Korea Peace Network, an alliance of concerned U.S.-based civil society groups working together to establish a just peace on the Korean Peninsula through peacebuilding, engagement, reconciliation, and dialogue between all concerned governments and civil society groups.

- Write to your representative today to challenge exorbitant U.S. military spending in Korea by advocating for changes to the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act).
- Urge your Member of Congress to Support Peace in Korea and co-sponsor H.R.1841, the Peace on the Korean Peninsula Act (PKPA), which calls for a formal end to the Korean War through a binding peace agreement and a review on current travel restrictions to the DPRK.
